Can't Afford a Lawyer?

"Randy"

I am asking this question for a friend of mine ..... really!
His step-daughter is going into a criminal jury trial. It has something to
do with Child Protection Services. She needs a criminal lawyer but can not
afford one. He was told that because she has a job she can not use a court
appointed lawyer. All of the lawyers he has contacted want $5000 up front,
which he can not afford. The trail date is next month.
What does he need to do to secure a lawyer?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
R. P.

Randy,
Your friend may wish to check into legal aid societies and "pro bono"
attorneys. Call the state bar association for info on this or ask the court
clerk. He can also try to borrow the money needed to hire a lawyer.
Good luck,
Dave M.
