The real celebration was in 1988, when the UK attained 300 years without
extra constitutional change of government.
There have been a couple of rebellions since then, when a few places were
sacked by a Jacobite rabble.
The Roman republic lasted 403 years, so a little way to go yet - OTOH there
were dictatorial interludes etc. in Rome.
I wonder if her majesty has any desire for any particular little thing to
happen; some words to be said, some event to occur in 2066.
One thousand years of history since the Conquest by the Normans. We in
Britain have existed for quite a while as a monarchy (!:O)!), and as quite
a
stable
monarchy. Hoorah Henry, Jack Cade's rebellion, numerous Regencies,
Religious
oppression revolution and change the beheading of Charles 2nd. In Britain
a
monarchy has remained retained for quite a wee while huh?
Law, Politics, War, Treaty, Stand Off, Technology, Land Management and
Maintainence, Plough Pasture and Fallow. There is only one country I know
from history (there are probably others) which had a monarchy for a
thousand
years and that is the iron roots of Georgia (from where, I believe, iron
set out on it's world wide reign).
Shame I probably shall not be here for the party.
