Class action suit checks

My mother has been receiving small asbestos settlement checks for the
last 3 years since the death of my late stepfather from asbestosis.
While these checks do not amount to her primary source of income it does
help her ..
She has signed releases sent by her lawyer for at least 3 checks but has
never received any of them. I sent an email to the attorney but was
told nothing is due.
Since the lawyer gets the check first - deducts his costs - then sends
the remainder to my mom how would I ever know if they held the complete
check?

invntrr,
It's not clear what your interest in this matter is. Your mother should
address this question which you raise to her lawyer. If she is not competent
and you have been appointed to watch over her interests then you should
speak with the lawyer. The lawyer should be able to account for all of the
money received and allocated. If the lawyer can not or will not account for
the money then have the checks sent directly to your mother
Good luck,
Dave M.

My mom lives in another state and seems to have trouble contacting her
attorney. I usually send him an Email and he does get back to me.
I do not want her checks ... she is very capable of other things but for
some reason has trouble with this lawyer.
Regards
Tom
