assuming you are interested in tax or corporate law and you are
choosing between Georgetown and George Mason (both part time) with
total tuition costs differing by nearly 60K.
over the course of your career, will the Georgetown degree pay for
itself?
???

If you plan to work for a firm, yes.

lol... well its good that we cleared that up... most people have been
telling me the GULC degree is a better ROI.. i can see a case where
you get more interviews with the Georgetown name on the degree. but
what the hell do i know... i am very risk and debt averse so i would
feel more comfortable not taking on the debt.. but you only have one
chance to go to law school and earn your JD and then you live with the
school name for the rest of your life...
any other opinions on this?
incidentally, GMU is a top 50 school, and up and coming..

What do you want to do with your law degree? Do you want to work for a
snooty, blue-blood DC firm? If so, a brand name degree is practically
mandatory. Sure you might land such a job from a crap school, but only if
you graduate in the top few places in your class or have a specialized
background. On the other hand, if you want to be a solo practitioner, work
for a public defender or a public service agency, small firm practice, the
cheapo degree might serve you very well. Especially since the jobs you are
looking at don't pay much money. That's even more reason not to dig
yourself in debt.
