Copyright law question for you law gurus

Howdy all
I have a copyright question for you.
We have a teacher who lectures to us in college and has been there for 10 or
15 years.
She teaches 1 class.
Over the past 2 or 3 years people have taken her notes and typed them into
the computer
and are now distributing them via a website that I run for the students.
They are not charging for them and we do not specifically have the teachers
permission.
Is this a violation of her copyright rights? She lectures from a document
that she uses for all of the
classes she teaches.
I myself think i would be better off not using them in front of her and not
distributing them via email.
What do you think? Could she have a legal leg to stand on since we don't
have her permission?
Thanks
Rob
