I'm in florida and it is not.
The judge refused to answer the question......can he do that and if so
why would he not answer?

A friend of mine was the plantiff in a whistle blower case. She lost
the case. The presiding judge said she did not make the case, and
moreover felt her action was groundless to the point where he felt
that the defendants were entitled to their court

Some states have "legal separation." In PA, H/W are legally separated
simply when one spouse moves out. In NC, legal separation requires a court
order. If legally separated, one spouse has no property rights in the
property acquired by the other.
