The reliability of Kodak P&S cameras is poor and their service stinks. It ain't much different for any other cheap P&S digicam vendor either. Substitute Canon, Olympus, et al et al. Manufacturers see these cameras as low end, high volume, short market

+ to me, a long time user of Kodak film and services, this kind of news is painful. It may be, the "old Kodak" group has moved on, and there may in fact be troubles with the current company, but I've gotten excellent prints from them in recent years
