Subtitle: DOWNLOADING COPYRIGHT WOES Greetings alt.legal, I'm hoping I can get some encouraging advice from you regarding my Neverending Quest to Revive the California Jam Mega-Concert. For those of you unfamiliar with it, the California Jam was the second simulcast ever, and it was a Doozy. In fact, in the opening shot they have more ppl put on television than before and since, with well over 240,000 ppl standing in a dirt lot and looking up 2 1/2 miles to the skyjumpers. Well I'm largely credited with being the only one in the whole world who taped the Gig properly off the radio and what a 3+ hour tape it is! I've scored Major Press stories about it, etc. So the onus is on ME to revive it. I'd like your opinion, alt.legal, on what you think the outcome is gonna be once I make the 40-odd tracks available to all for downloads at 99 cents per. Do I need a webhost in a distant land that hasn't signed on with the United States copyright treaties? Everyone always asks me about these Tapes, and I'm at a loggerheads on what to do about it. This is a chunk of Americana that shouldn't be kept in the Dark any longer. So here's Today's Digest of my Neverending Quest to seek out the copyrights. I'm *willing* to submit the standard 10% royalties to ASCAP but I only get closed doors. Hi Ron, Thank you for your concern regarding "the struggle of my Life" trying to resolve the copyright issue of the 1974 California Jam Broadcast. If you've seen californiajam you may know I'm the only one on Earth who taped this monstrous Gig. It was bigger than War Of The Worlds and Woodstock combined. So over the last few years I've researched and researched and researched and written to the 8 publishing companies involved. Little or no response from them. I left more of this saga on your voicemail and hopefully we can pick up on this tomorrow morning or even today. I've been with your great company a LONG time and I don't want to get chased Down Under to Australia to use a webhost there. I want to stay with you so I must be clear as I can regarding the outcome of this situation. I understand if the feds come in and say close it down then it must be closed down but I have been unable to find a single copyright regarding this 1974 show. Meanwhile they're peddling California Jam junk copies on eBay today that I'm watching the auctions for. And there's a website called rockvideos that peddles California Jam sound and video recordings far inferior to mine. Please let me know where I stand with this and if I don't use your company can I get a refund of any period that I'm going to have to switch to another webhost? Thank you and let's speak ASAP because my new e-commerce webhost designer needs to know where to send the new files to. This reminds me I've offered a FREE Sound Download of the California Jam Broadcast on my website for about 3 years and no one's been able to complain or take it down yet so that's something proving my point about the ownership of California Jam to my advantage. I called ABC a couple of years ago who sponsored the Event and at that time they told me "we've never even heard of California Jam" plus I've never seen a Copyright Registration number and I don't even know if there is one. I have a music attorney in Los Angeles who says he'll "step in" if there's any problems with the copyright issue of California Jam Wade so how way YOUR day? Let's speak right away or ASAP, Hi Dave (Attorney), My web designer says my new Californiajam design will be online by January 6th or 7th. I hope you've got the Materials I sent to you and if you have I hope they're adding substantial new dimensions to your Life. Nuclear Warrior, California Jam... A lot of people may want to report my new site for piracy, but if you look at rockvideo they're selling Caljam materials (in quality far inferior to my Recordings you have there) and apparently have been doing so since 2004. I'd think if they're allowed to do it then why can't I? They may or may not have cleared the Rights and they have a far inferior California Jam product than I have. I have the world class goods when it comes to the Jam. You can hear that. This is what California wants! They want to live the California Jam Way of Life, and the only way they can do that is through me. Plus Nuclear Warrior; we've got something here the likes of which the world has never seen before. I saw The Beatles on August 28, 1964 but it's not like the California Jam Revival. Just like I want to submit royalties to whoever owns the copyrights to California Jam, if anyone, I want to retain you as my Attorney in these musical affairs of mine. I've been searching for these California Jam copyrights, how to get clearance for many years with no success except for a brief letter from Disney who says they own the copyrights, with no copyright index number furnished to me whatsoever even after I requested it. I don't think they even have a copy of California Jam there. This is too important in California and American Culture to be unsure of. I'm pretty sure someone is going to want to close down my spectacular-looking new California Jam Website coming up. This new design happens to be really good-looking and truly amazing. I don't think you've ever seen anything like it. I know I sure haven't. It seems like a bumpy road ahead in early January, and I hope you're onboard for this because I feel the stakes of the whole Music Industry are in question now because of my Work. Please keep me in mind and I'll call you at the first hint of trouble and maybe we can clear up these California Jam copyright issues once and for all so you and I can have a tremendous impact on California Culture with the Scott Lifshine world exclusive California Jam "Wereo" Recordings. Nuclear Warrior's even bigger than this as you can see. If anything comes up before I call you then please by all means don't hesitate to contact me, Dave. Thank you for keeping me in mind. Sometimes I think the whole Fate of Humanity rests with my Work. I also think I'm the greatest Filmmaker who ever lived. You have samples of some of my Film Work as well. Thanks again, David. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com
