The AG's handling of the Dechaine case has split Mainers into three camps:
the Ridiculous, the Robots, and the Realists. The Ridiculous, career
bureaucrats in the AG's office, insist that saying something automatically
makes it so. Any acknowledgment of reality is disloyal, defeatist, and
pro-crime. Marching in lock-step behind the Ridiculous are the "Robots,"
tamed into a mechanical go-along-to-get-along. Think of them as having
accepted their lobotomy. The Realists are a growing assembly of citizens who
actually examine facts, understand, and think.
