I have to open my adoption file due to two reasons:
1) Poor heath. I need to find out any family history.
2) Cherokee blood. By law, I have a right to my heritage.
I am not sure if I want to meet my biological mother. I'm not feeling
a whole lot of interest in that respect. I had GREAT parents.
Anyway, my file is in Alameda County, California. I already have my
non-identifying information.
Any advice on what to do next? I have to file a Petition to Open
Adoption Record, but some Courts have a simple form while others require
a pleading.
Does anyone know how to do this in Alameda County, CA Family Court?
