Yes. In California there's a six month residence requirement, I
believe.

Not a lawyer as they say but been through the process.
If you are a resident in the county in which you live, you should be able
to become divorced in that county in the U.S. as far as I can tell.
I'd suggest going to the state's website on Family Law in the state in
which you live for specific detail regarding the process. If you live
in California, there is an excellent website on the subject but in not
knowing the state in which you live in, it would be difficult to point
you at the specific information as divorce laws are determined in the
state in which you live in here.

Divorce in the USA is a matter of state law. Do you live in the USA?
Which state(s)? For how long?

Assuming you and your wife are of different genders, you should no trouble
getting divorced in the US---- at least no more trouble than you would anywhere
else.
Good luck!

Generally speaking, US courts will recognize marriages contracted
almost anywhere for the purpose of divorce. (Having a record of the
marriage may be preferable, but in Oregon and Washington, at least, if
neither party disputes the marriage, the court won't dispute it.)

Another question would be whether the divorce would be valid in India.
India has strict divorce laws specific to each of the country's
several religions, but the informal comments I have heard are that an
Indian court will validate a divorce from another country unless there
is suspicion of duress or fraud.
