Does a copy of an Promissory Note have the same legal weight as the
original. (california)

A promissory note is only proof of a debt. An original note is better
proof, because if the borrower denies he signed, it is much harder to
establish whether or not he did from a copy.
Aside from that, assuming it is otherwise admissible in evidence, it
should be fine.
