I am a computer programmer attending law school. I want to do criminal defense of hackers and "cybercriminal" cases. Given I'm still a 1L, just starting; I believe that such a specialty would require a knowledge of evidence procedure specific to computer crimes, international computer crime laws, etc. Does anyone have any advice? Is this considered a new area or just another run-of-the-mill criminal law thing? Is it realistic to develop a clientele in this specialty area? Are there books on the subject you recommend? Thanks in advance. I did a search on the subject on UseNet, and all I found was recommendations to do patent law, in which I have minimal to no interest.
