Personal Injury Lawsuit - Violent Attack

I was attacked last January by a man who has now been sentenced to life
in prison. The attack resulted in a mild traumatic brain injury and
entailed quite a bit of speech therapy. Additionally, I'm now prone to
seizures as a result of the assault. This happened only a few months
after completing cancer treatments.
This took place in a bar/restaurant lit parking lot with a security
camera. The camera was not working and there was no security person
present despite the busy and precarious area (this is along a strip of
bars and restuarants in Dallas' popular Lower Greenville area). I've
learned the bar/restaurant owner did not have insurance coverage at the
time of the attack.
If I decide to pursue this case, do I have much of a chance in
obtaining a settlement? If this owner has no assets other than the bar
and restaurant incorporation (not the property), how would this work in
my favor? Texas' Homestead Act does not allow creditors to overtake
one's place of residence. The only option seems to be the bar, but how
would this work?
Is there an option to take over the business or sell it?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I am not a lawyer, but I don't see a duty on the part of the
owner to maintain his parking lot as "safe", unless there
were (1) previous incidents IN the parking lot which (2) were
brought to the owner's attention, and (3) "reasonable" remedies
that the owner COULD have taken would help. What good would
the working security camera do you? A security guard being
present MIGHT have helped, but I'm not entirely sure it would
be considered "reasonable".
I wish I could be of more help, but I really don't
see it.

I think I've got the problem resolved, but, if you E-mail me
and it bounces, a second try might work.
However, please reply in newsgroup.
