I'm hoping someone out there can help me with this question. I'm in WA state and have a question about the expiration of a Writ of Garnishment (Continuing lien on earnings). I've scoured the RCWs and and CRs and can't find anything that refers to an expiration time period for the Writ of Garnishment itself. I understand that once it's served on the garnishee that it's only good for so long and after that period a new Writ must be applied for with the clerk and then re-served on the garnishee but that's not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is something that states how long the Plaintiff has to act before the Writ itself is no longer valid. It would seem that it would be prudent for said Plaintiff to act immediately but what if he/she doesn't? Is the writ still valid and legally capable of being served on a garnishee say.. a year later.. 10 years later?? Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
