Day care racket:

Can anyone she some light on the legality of day care centers charging parents
for holidays when the day care center isn't even open.
Day care centers now charge a parent for an entire week even if the child
isn't there but 2 days. If the child become ill because they contracted a
contageous illness from someone at the center and has to be out, the parent
still has to pay for the days the child was out. Isn't there some protection
for the parents from having to pay for services that were not rendered.?

If it's like this area, demand for daycare far exceeds availability. That
allows the daycare centers to charge more for their services. If you don't
like it, you can always move to another daycare facility, or hire a private
sitter, nanny or au paire.
I assume these terms were given to you and you accepted them when you
enrolled your child. I doubt there's any law that prohibits them from
setting such conditions. It sucks, but that's the way it works.

They say if the child is out it's to save the childs slot, but if a child get
sick from another child in the program, i wouldn't think that the parent of the
child that got sick from another child would have to pay for the time that they
were out.
If it is to hold a slot, on a hoiday when the center is closed there is no
accessibility so therefore on a holdiay when the centers not open how can the
child be in danger of loosing a slot, so how would the center be entitled to
money for a day when the center isn't even open?
