Employment Agreement

My employer has recent made up an employment agreement. One of the
stipulations is I have never been an employee before signing it. I have been
there 6 months. Also it says if I break or threatened confidentialiy I
automattically owe them %50 of my gross income for the year. Anyone know if
this is legal. I live in washington state if that matters.

This is not legal advice only an opinion.
Bull#@($. Send a copy of the agreement to the Wa. Attorney General's office.
They can dock your pay for various reasons, but they can not retain 50%.
Unless you really like working there, I'd be looking for another job damn
quick.

I am not a Washington lawyer. However, there are many problems with
what your employer wants to do. First, they probably can't make any
deductions from your pay because you break something or because you
breach some rule of confidentiality.

Second, they probably can't enforce such a clause in any contract
because it sounds like a punitive liquidated damages clause (something
that prescribes a set sum of money without any connection to the
actual damages).
As for asking you to agree to something that is false, that is
obviously a problem, but I'm not sure what would happen to you if you
refused to sign such a contract.
I suggest you call the Dept. of Labor and Industries agency nearest
you:

Or consult with an attorney.
