The California State legislators and the Governor , "Grey Davis", passed a bill
in California to allow Non U.S citizens and Non-California residents, drivers
license so they can now travel on the States highways and byways .
I think this is a bad enough situation , with the current traffic congestion in
the States if you allow more people from other countries to drive through your
just going to increase traffic congestion and worsen Air quality levels.
Also I don't see how this is going to be helpful in reducing drug traffic
through the State and the U.S, has now drug smugglers ,that are not even U.S
citizens, can now get a legal drivers license to traffic drugs throughout the
State.
To add injury to insult, Grey is quoted as saying in the Newspapers,"its okay to
give Non-U.S citizens the right to drive in our state if you want to work and
contribute to our economy. I guess that includes the drug dealers right?
I hope those non-residents driving through the State, have good insurance.
California has strict laws concerning driving and insurance. If you get into a
car accident in California and you don't have auto insurance, you can lose your
drivers license for up to one year ( if damages are more than $750.00)....PLUS
if if you get sued in court because of an automobile accident the Dept of Motor
Vehicles can suspend your license up to six years, or until you pay for damages!
A good law you say, but a nightmare if your an uninsured driver, not only do you
face losing your drivers license (bad news if you need a car for work), but then
you have to deal with bill collectors and insurance companies, as damages can
run into the thousands of dollars.
I know cause I'm presently in this situation, I might have to file for
bankruptcy just to avoid losing my drivers license9 and keeping my job), and I
don't even own a home or anything. I'll be lucky if I can just keep my job a few
more years. I wonder how many other Californian's are facing this problem?
So you see Mr Davis, there are probably lots of people who are residents of this
State who could and would probably like to work, but who can't because of the
money-grubbing, stupid ass insurance companies, and legislation in the State who
favor the rights of non-U.S citizens, over the rights of the people who live
here.
