public records?

ussearch.com has a free searchable database that can be used to
confirm people's ages... when i tried it out, it had the age of
pretty much everyone i know, and it was 100% accurate, too. now, it
doesn't seem to (which is kinda weird), but it did when i looked up
someone's age, whom i had met online. the age reported to me through
this site, however, was different than the age they told me. i asked
the person whom i had met online about this, and they told me it was
wrong.
they asked what public record of theirs would be online, and
enumerated through a list of them... they said they don't have a
publically listed phone number (not that someone's age would be
included in that, anyways), that they don't own any property, that
they don't have any bankruptcies and tax liens, that they don't have
any marriage licenses, that the only "crime" they have committed is
that they sped (although i don't see why this wouldn't include their
age) and that, while their driver's license would be one possible
source of information, that it wouldn't contain their age, because
they say that there is some californian law that makes it illegal to
disclose anyone's date of birth. (i've never heard of this law,
either)
they additionally say that their age could have been obtained from
magazine or newspaper subscriptions, but they said that they don't
subscribe to any. of course, it seems to me that it wouldn't matter
if you subscribed to any magazines *now*, but rather, it would matter
if you had *ever* subscribed to any magazine or newspaper.
in the end, they conclude that ussearch.com got their age by looking
at some obscure website. that doesn't make much sense to me, because
scouring the internet looking for information on people would be
highly inaccurate and rather inefficient.
so, where else could their age have been obtained from? are there any
links that i could present them with that would refute some of their
hypothesises, or that could, atleast, back them up?

I just looked mine up and it came back not even close.
4 records shown for the state and none of them mine.
Even though my name is available on public records.
However, it came up with 1 record from when I lived in cincinnati, with no
age.
It would appear that this superfast search, is using telephone directories
only.
How they determine age is beyond me.
I wouldn't hold my breath on it being 100% accurate.

me, heh.

I wonder how it will work with this new kind of driver's license.
