Re: Software patents make no sense

John Riley

By
"copying (stealing) the finished idea is much easier"
I don't mean
copying (duplicating) files to sell for profit.
We don't need patent protection for that.
Copyright suffices.
If you understand the points I make below, I'd like
to hear your reactions. Thank you.
Patents make sense only when R&D is very
expensive/difficult and copying (stealing) the
finished idea is much easier.
So software patents make almost no sense.
http://lpf.ai.mit.edu/Patents/against-software-patents.html
You can see this by looking at the software patents
issued by the USPTO. At least 99.9% of them have
nothing new or unobvious in them.
Here's my question.
Is it different in other fields (arts)?
That is, in other fields, do you ever
read a published patent and think:
"This is a great idea.
I see that such a great idea could have come
only from expensive/difficult R&D."
This never happens when you read a software patent,
but I can imagine that this might happen with
R&D of new drugs, for example.

You are wrong.
Software patent protection is great idea.
Reverse engineering tools so popular on the net,
made software businesses to move from copyright protection to
patent protection.
You can reverse engineer my software, modify it and compile again,
trying to pass around my copyrights,
but patent protection is still in force.

shut up idiot
next time I'll ask your ISP to learn you what can you post to usenet.
Go ahead Jack, just like everything else you "think" you know, my ISP
will do nothing, they have no power to do anything about me telling the
world you are a danger to inventing, that your delusional, that you
claim to be something your not.
Making responses like you just did does not take away the fact your
trying to be something your not,, In most cases I could care less if
someone on the internet does this, but in your case your tying to
influence new inventors, that your an expert and they should follow your
advice. One of the reasons we have so many "failed" inventors "like you"
is they follow the wrong advice.
You said no one can get around your "Patent Protection",
Jack, you have no patent protection, and I do think, claiming you do is
a crime ?????? (one of you legal eagles answer that, as I'm not a
lawyer, and don't pretend to know the law like Jack does)
At least it is if it is on a product, and no patent protection exist
Jack you claim to have all these great programs (inventions) you have
writen over the years, yet no one has ever seen them.
Jack you claim to have invented 20 things (which you may or may not
have) who gives a rats Arse, this does not mean your good at inventing,
it does not mean you know what your doing, it does not mean you have the
right to advise others on how they should invent to succeed, as you
personally don't have a clue how to do it.
Jack I have read every post you have made over the last month (that's as
long as you have been on "these" Usenet groups) yet you claim to have
been on the internet for ever, and inventing for ever, why have you
waited this long to come to these groups ?
Again something does not add up Jack
From the start you wanted to teach members of alt inventors from your
eclases, on how to write additional patent claims, to existing patents
and applications of other inventors, Yet Jack you have never had any of
your claims that you have writen get passed by a patent examiner. Seams
to me you didn't, and don't know what you were going to "charge" people
for. Your not qualified to do such teaching, yet you were going to Take
members money. This is a SCAM Jack.
As far as I'm concerned you tried to defraud people out of their money,
but I caught you, and warned all the members that you were conning them,
that you didn't have a clue about what you were going to charge them to
teach them.
Then Jack you realized you didn't know anything, and now you have been
trying to learn it all QUICK, so you can charge others for the
knowledge, you pick up, at least know enough to bluff your way through.
Jack, I still laugh at the statement you made that all patent pending
inventions were valuable, and even valuable to the consumer, that they
would pay more for a patent pending product, or go out of their way to
buy a patent pending product over a non patented product.
How could ANYONE BE THIS STUPID ???????????????????????
The problem was you were inferring to all new inventors that all patents
and patent pending inventions were valuable, thus they should patent all
their inventions. (yet you have never patented a single one, or made any
money from your inventions) I'm sure by now, you have realized that your
statement was a total falsehood, yet you never admitted that fact to the
group.
Your dangerous Jack, you will cost new inventors a lot of money, and
time, if we just let you say what you want to, and not tell people the
truth.
So Jack I would advise, you read these groups, and not post anything but
questions, let the REAL experts answer them, and then accept those
answers,, well that is if any of the experts still read any post from
you,, Most of them don't any more.
Jack you can not learn this business in a month or two, or even a year
or two, it takes years to learn this business, and be able to repeat
successful invention deals and licensing.
Oh yeah
What's that patent number ????????????????
Where on Ebay is your invention on auction, you said the min has not
been reached yet, that means it is on their site,, please post the web
address for that auction Jack,, if you don't then what,,, you were lying
AGAIN ???????????????????????????

Jack,
I fully concur with Rodney.
Having just have my hard drive on my laptop fail and replaced it, I had not
transferred my kill-file to the new drive, so have for the past week or so
been able to see your posts again.
The questions asked by Rodney, myself and many others have nothing to do
with paranoia. They have to do with wanting proof of someones claims. Most
of this asked for proof does not involve you divulging any commercially
sensitive information.
Remeber, respect is something that must be earned, and the onus is therefore
on you to prove that you can do what you constantly say you can in order to
earn that respect.
Remember too that invention is more than just having ideas. I have ideas by
the thousands, but that does not make them inventions unless I design, in
detail, how that idea will become a reality, and prove (at the very least to
myself) that it works, usually through building a prototpye. Even that does
not in the least guarantee that it will be a successful invention (and by
successfull, I meant profitable).
I would ask that you also not bother replying to this e-mail, unless it is
with some answers to the many questions asked of you.
Here are some of the questions again:
Give one single patent number of yours. You claim to have several of them
yet time and time again refuse to give out the numbers. This is the number
one question. If you cannot answer this one, then do not bother with the
others, unless you first retract your claim of having patented inventions.
Why do you still change your reply addresses to alt.test?
You claim to have working software and algorythms yet it cannot be tested or
even it's features viewed anywhere. This includes you not even having the
ability to put together a basic website to advertise your inventions. It
also brings into question your constant claims of your mail box being full
of viruses when that particular virus scare has now been over for several
weeks.
Why do you still splice bits of newsgroups threads into completely new
threads to give the impression that people have an interest in something
they do not? Yet, why do you scream blue murder when someone does exactly
the same to you?
What is your full name? Most people here have no hesitation in using their
real and complete names as they are not embarrassed by what they do.
Can you prove ANY of the many other claims you make?
I understand that English is not your first language, but do you undertsand
what the word 'SARCASM' means, and do you have the ability to detect it in
converations?
Looking forward to some answers.
Olaf Diegel

JAck, by you answering all these questions, in this manor, completely
confirms, that your "pretending to be an expert", hell man you can
pretend to be anything you want to be, it's just that we can't let you
advise others, as an expert. People get enough bad advice in this
business, that cost them dearly.
So from now on all your post will receive a disclaimer reply, I have
wasted enough of my time with you, I will do a auto response template
that will follow every one of your post, warning people, that your
advice (even if in the rare case it might be good ,as you would have
stolen it from someone else's experience) is not worth the time to read.
Of course this will be for the new inventors who join these groups, and
the search engines, that will show your news group post.
You are of course free to post anything you like, but I am free to rebut
those postings with this warning.
Jack, has been giving very bad advise to inventors in the past, that
could have cost them dearly if followed. Jack has refused to prove that
he is an expert in the field in inventing, or any field, from all we can
gather from his post, he is far from being an expert, instead he is
delusional. All advice that he post should be thoroughly checked out by
other sources before following it. If you correspond with Jack, you are
doing it at your own risk, and if you ever pay Jack for any services he
offers, you will likely be throwing your money away, based on what he
has shown in these news groups, This is the consensus of many of the
expert members of these news groups, based in it's entirety on the fact
of him refusing to prove he knows this business, and him giving advice
that has been known to be improper for success.
If JAck can prove this not to be the case, a retraction from me will be
posted. I am basing this on many years of inventing experience of my
own, and is just my qualified opinion
