On the application for the school of my choice, a question asks for
disclosure of any arrests, misdimeanors, or felonies. The school does
no criminal background check, but states that State Bars will often do
criminal background checks and compare them to your law school
applications (hence the need to be forthcoming).
I could find very little info on the VA state bar, but had 2
questions:
Could a misdimeanor that will be about 10 years old preclude me from
gaining admission to the bar?
Most likely not.
Does the Virginia State Bar analyze law school application forms for
inconsistencies with its findings during a criminal background check?
Ask them.
