I have a question.
I'f I buy a software like RedHat Enterprise Version 3.0 and a month
later a vulnerability is release for one software (for example
sendmail), Legally should redhat provide me the fix free of charge or
can they charge me for tha update.
"Legally" when they can do whatever they Damned Well Please to do...
however, you might want to consult MicroSoft f'rinstance, on the Wisdom of
Charging Users of their Products for Updates/Patches/Fixes/WorkArounds
versus keeping a Customer Base Happy with Bug-Free Joy To Use $oftware...
As a comparison:
If I buy a car and company later finds that the tires are vulnerable
to accidents or flipovers they are obligated to replace them free of
charge. Shouldn't this be same for all the comsumer products like
RedHat Software.
Well... rather a Poor Comparison, but generally, Companies give a #@($
about Defective Products in Direct Proportion to their Liability/Damages
exposure...
Lemme know when RedHat throws you outta your Chair, Rolls Ya Down The
Stairs, and Destroys Your Psychic Abilities...
