ERICA WERNER Associated Press Feb 22,2004 WASHINGTON - Arnold Schwarzenegger, making his Sunday talk show debut as governor, said that he and other foreign-born citizens should be eligible to run for the White House and that President Bush can carry California in November if he does more to help the state. The Republican governor said anyone who has been a U.S. citizen for at least 20 years - as he has - should "absolutely" be able to seek the presidency. A constitutional amendment proposed by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, would make that possible. "There are so many people in this country that are now from overseas, that are immigrants, that are doing such a terrific job with their work, bringing businesses here, that there's no reason why not," said Schwarzenegger, who became a U.S. citizen in 1983. ********* Arnold - it's not just that you're A foreigner. You are also a former porn star and your daddy was a member of hitlers SS!!!! Bush is enough. NO more degenerates in the WH.

Of course a liberal like xeton2001@yahoo.com would hate that.

Obviously you don't understand the definition of a liberal. A conservative is one who adopts policies to maintain the existing system. Explain to me why a liberal is more likely to oppose changing the rule of requiring one to be American-born to be President than a conservative. -- Tired of the same rhetoric of lies and deceit? http://www.gentlemanjim.net/ "It aint what you don't know that'll hurt ya, it's what you "know" that aint so." -- Will Rogers

Well Arnie, this ain't burger king and you don't get it your way. That statement was included to keep out those that might possibly be from a country who is an enemy of the USA. It was put in after there were enough probable candidates who would be native, natural born citizens. Your just whining because that's the only thing keeping you out of the White House, and I for one happen to support that idea. The only reason arnie is governor now is because of his fame, not for his knowledge of how politics works. You saw what happened when Reagan got into the White House right? Nothing.

And right after he answered that hypothetical, he was asked if he would sign a law legalizing same-sex marriages in California. He stated he didn't answer hypotheticals.

Orrin Hatch is a joke. Where was this amendment 4 years ago? 5 years ago? Why now? I'll bet if Bush had received the popular vote and Gore won the electoral college, Hatch would be introducing an amendment to get rid of the electoral college.
"There are so many people in this country that are now from overseas, that are immigrants, that are doing such a terrific job with their work, bringing businesses here, that there's no reason why not," said Schwarzenegger, who became a U.S. citizen in 1983.
I wonder what his response would be if the proposal were 30 years rather than 20? -- "If you look at the appropriations bills that were passed under my watch, in the last year of President Clinton, discretionary spending was up 15 percent, and ours have steadily declined."--G.W. Bush 8 Feb. 2004 Fact: "Clinton's last budget increased domestic discretionary spending by 4.56 percent. Bush's first budget increased it by 7.06 percent. His second increased it by over 10 percent."--The New Republic 9 Feb. 2004 According to records released by the White House, Bush apparently skipped Guard duty from April 17 to Oct. 28, 1972. Liberals supported an effort to repeal the term limits for the Presidency, when Bill Clinton was President. They supported this precisely so Clinton could run for President. But now, they are opposing Schwarzenegger's effort to allow immigrants to run for President. ***** Tim Horrigan <horrigan@aol.com> *****

It is obvious you do not know what you are talking about. The American left is not liberal by any literal definition. They are liberal in name only, their actions are to keep the status quo as evidenced by their opposition to vouchers, SS privatization, school choice, welfare reform, and tax reform. Their ideology is socialism/fascism/communism, so there is nothing liberal about the American left.

In America you can exchange the word liberal for leftist. They have the same meaning. At least the Mr. Schwarzneiger is willing to put it up for a vote in the normal way. Something Liberals, I mean Leftist Judges, and at least one Mayor seems unwilling to do.
