WASHINGTON - Arnold Schwarzenegger, making his Sunday talk show debut
as governor, said that he and other foreign-born citizens should be
eligible to run for the White House and that President Bush can carry
California in November if he does more to help the state.
The Republican governor said anyone who has been a U.S. citizen for at
least 20 years - as he has - should "absolutely" be able to seek the
presidency. A constitutional amendment proposed by Sen. Orrin Hatch,
R-Utah, would make that possible.
"There are so many people in this country that are now from overseas,
that are immigrants, that are doing such a terrific job with their
work, bringing businesses here, that there's no reason why not," said
Schwarzenegger, who became a U.S. citizen in 1983.

Obviously you don't understand the definition of a liberal. A conservative
is one who adopts policies to maintain the existing system. Explain to me
why a liberal is more likely to oppose changing the rule of requiring one to
be American-born to be President than a conservative.

That statement was included to keep out those that might possibly be from a
country who is an enemy of the USA.
It was put in after there were enough probable candidates who would be
native, natural born citizens.

The only reason arnie is governor now is because of his fame, not for his
knowledge of how politics works.

sign a law legalizing same-sex marriages in California. He stated he
didn't answer hypotheticals.

Liberals supported an effort to repeal the term limits for the Presidency, when
Bill Clinton was President. They supported this precisely so Clinton could run
for President. But now, they are opposing Schwarzenegger's effort to allow
immigrants to run for President.
