Question re: California unemployment

I am currently receiving unemployment benefits in CA.
I have put in a bid to perform some computer consulting
work (probably about 2 weeks work). How does this
affect my unemployment benefits? (Please note : I
have searched the EDD website without success and
can't get through on the phone in an effort to get
an answer to this question).
Will the amount I report as income from consulting
be deducted from my unemployment check? If so,
do I make it up later, if I am still unemployed?
Thanks for any responses!

In NH, the amount is prorated. If I recall correctly, your benefits is reduced
by 40 cents fro each dollar of consulting income. If you earn enough to reduce
the amount of your benefit to zero, then the week doesn't count as one of your
26 weeks (or 39 if you happen to qualify for extended benefits.) But if you do
reduce it to zero you may have to formally re-open the claim before getting
more benefits.
The income won't count towards your basis for future benefits.

yes, definitely

not sure what you mean by this; the "biggie" here is to make sure the folks
at EDD know that you're self employed, or you may end up having to
re-file/re-start your claim over

Been there, done that....
Report it on each week's reporting form as "earned
income from selfemployment" (I don't remember exactly
how to do that.) It will reduce your weekly payment
by about 75% of the amount earned. (I KNOW unemployment
checks were biweekly when I was on unemployment.
They're still CALCULATED weekly.)
It doesn't count against the 26-39 week dollar amount
limit on total claims, but DOES count against the one
year limit on how long a claim can be open.
