Is this legal in the USA?

Hi,
I'm curious what laws might cover the filming of
pornography in the USA. I am guessing that it is
perfectly legal to make such films. The only country
I have heard of where it isn't is Sweden, but
then again let's face it, American was founded
by those crazy Puritans, who left some kind of
scar on US culture. So, anybody know for sure?
Thanks.

Commercial porn lives pretty much on the border of legality. It's big
business in California, particularly the San Fernando Valley, where
there is much production. Under California law, commercial porn
producers risk being shut down as public nuisances, but in practice
the authorities tolerate the ones that don't sail too close to the
wind. Federal law is particularly concerned with whether producers are
employing under-age talent (especially after a 1986 scandal involving
under-age actress "Traci Lords"); producers who keep careful records
are tolerated.

Paraphrasing Seymore Butts, "four fingers is OK,
but for some strange reason, once you get that thumb
in there, it's a crime".
Yes, they do crack down on some kinds of porn.
Mostly the kind without a large political block
behind it.
I am not a lawyer. I do not even see email sent to this address, due to
past DOS attacks. If you wish to respond, do so through this newsgroup.

Funny thing, the producers of Traci Lords, nee Nora Louise Kuzma,
had records of her legal age provided by Traci herself. Turns out they were
forged,
unbeknownst to the producers, actors, distributors of her 100s of films.
Didn't stop the Gestapo U$$A AG's office from prosecuting, convicting and
imprisoning the producers/distributors of "child porn" charges.
