I have read some statements from attorneys on the net stating that in a low-impact rear-end collision, the energy of the collision goes into the person, not the car due to the new bumpers designed not to break... I am looking for evidence of this: studies, research, etc... I was hit by a bus recently, and am suffering not only classic whiplash, but a sore back every day and every night, now, for over 8 months. I went to a chiropractor for 3 months, then a physical therapist for 6 weeks, they both released me (mostly due to economic concerns; one is an HMO, the other is a chiro who does'nt want to get stuck with a bill I might not pay if I lose the case; though I will pay, but he doesn't KNOW that...) but I'm still suffering. The bus's insurance co. does not want to pay me any pain and suffering because they say How is it possible my car was barely scratched, yet I am suffering so much pain? I do not know how it is possible, I only know that it IS, and I'm not faking it! The bus hit my tiny sub-compact on my rear bumper while I was stopped to make a left hand turn, and we bounced forward - lurched forward! - like a super-ball! I have an attorny of course, and we are moving towards a trial, but I want to help him by finding any info I can about how these new bumpers do not absorb the impact, they just bounce the car forward at great speed. Or at least, I have to assume that is what happened. Any help or advice, please put it here! Also, how much would it cost me to get an Expert to testify re these bumpers and impact and so on, here in Los Angeles? Or is this even recommended? Thanks!
