http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/226980p-194843c.html "She has the baby now and the baby comes first," Vanessa's stepgrandfather, Robert Laine, who helped raise her, told the Daily News. Steve Laine, who is locked in a bitter divorce battle with Vanessa's mother, said he expects his stepdaughter to appear at a Sept. 22 alimony hearing in Los Angeles - smack in the middle of Bryant's criminal trial. "I'm 99.9% certain she won't be going to Colorado," said Laine, who has become estranged from the Bryants since his 12-year marriage collapsed last winter. Whether Vanessa Bryant should face the TV cameras and the sexually charged spectacle in Eagle isn't an easy decision, legal experts say. That's because the presence of a wronged wife standing by her man could have a profound reverse psychological effect on the jury. "As presentable as she is, she may be too great a reminder that [Kobe] starts out, in the best view, as being an adulterer," said Linda Fairstein, former sex-crimes prosecutor for the Manhattan district attorney's office. "It paints the big scarlet A on his chest." "From a juror's perspective, you would want her at trial to show she supports her husband and believes her husband," said Jason Bloom, a jury consultant with the Dallas firm Courtroom Sciences. "The big message is that despite the allegations made by the prosecution, she's behind him." But others say her glaring absence during the pretrial hearings may mean she's willing to take the Tammy Wynette road only so far and won't subject herself to hearing testimony about her husband's sexcapades with another woman. "One thing we can't measure is whether she's simply decided it would be too humiliating, too embarrassing," said Fairstein.

Loud brays of scornful laughter when he testifies might not go over well either. He can't afford to have someone in the audience that is rolling her eyes and giggling whilst they portray him as having a sterling character incapable of the crime being judged.

Particularly as it assumes that she accommodates his peculiar tastes, whatever they might be. Maybe he ought to get her a pearl necklace next time, instead of another ring. Chas

The real deal is that Vanessa decided that she can't stand that little twerp and wants a real man....so I've been doing her. Now that it is out I feel a great deal of relief. Someone let Kobe know I do a great job caring for his baby. -- v/r Beau I am Charles Beauchamp...and I approve of this message.

Take a look at the elements of the crime of rape against Kobe Bryant: CRS 18-3-402. Sexual assault. Statute text (1) Any actor <<<established for Kobe Bryant, he admits being at the place and time of the crime>>> who knowingly inflicts sexual intrusion or sexual penetration <<<established for Kobe Bryant, he confessed it.>>> on a victim commits sexual assault if: (a) The actor causes submission of the victim by means of sufficient consequence reasonably calculated to cause submission against the victim's will; or <<<that's the one single element left to establish to convict Kobe Bryant of rape in Colorado. Nothing there about the victim having to say "no", or having to fight back, or having to sustain defensive injuries, or not being allowed to have sex after the rape, or any of the other non-sequiturs the rape apologists have been spouting. Pure and simple, all the prosecution needs to prove is the above element, everything else is already undisputedly established by Kobe himself.>>> (b - e) *** <<<these subsequent elements are merely needed to establish the range of prison time for Kobe, and are not necessary to establish his guilt of rape>>> (2) Sexual assault is a class 4 felony, except as provided in subsections (3), (3.5), (4), and (5) of this section. (3) *** (3.5) *** (4) Sexual assault is a class 3 felony if it is attended by any one or more of the following circumstances: (a) The actor causes submission of the victim through the actual application of physical force or physical violence; or (b) The actor causes submission of the victim by threat of imminent death, serious bodily injury, extreme pain, or kidnapping, to be inflicted on anyone, and the victim believes that the actor has the present ability to execute these threats; or (c) The actor causes submission of the victim by threatening to retaliate in the future against the victim, or any other person, and the victim reasonably believes that the actor will execute this threat. As used in this paragraph (c), "to retaliate" includes threats of kidnapping, death, serious bodily injury, or extreme pain; or <<< a big black cock ripping her vagina to bloody shreds surely caused extreme pain ? >>> (d) *** (5) (a) Sexual assault is a class 2 felony if any one or more of the following circumstances exist: (I) *** (II) The victim suffers serious bodily injury; or <<<a bloody, torn vagina?>>> (III) *** (b) (I) If a defendant is convicted of sexual assault pursuant to this subsection (5), the court shall sentence the defendant in accordance with section 18-1.3-401 (8) (e). A person convicted solely of sexual assault pursuant to this subsection (5) shall not be sentenced under the crime of violence provisions of section 18-1.3-406 (2). Any sentence for a conviction under this subsection (5) shall be consecutive to any sentence for a conviction for a crime of violence under section 18-1.3-406. (II) *** (6) Any person convicted of sexual assault committed on or after November 1, 1998, under any of the circumstances described in this section shall be sentenced in accordance with the provisions of part 10 of article 1.3 of this title. <<< so there you have it, Kobe via his own confession has admitted to being at the time and place of the alleged crime, admits to the major element of the crime of rape, i.e, sexual intercourse with the victim, the evidence shows bodily injury, and the singular element left to establish for conviction is simply Sec 1 (a) above. That's it. Nothing more. All the other statutory elements are merely sentencing guidelines needed to determine what prison sentence Kobe will receive, they are not necessary elements of the crime.>>>

They call things as they see it. They call a trashy person as a trash. They call gold/attention seeking person as appropriate. They call a liar as a liar. They call a skank as a skank. Only retards, racist, and feminists, and the so call, victim advocates have a problem with calling things as seen.
And, Vox is a chick; that should be 'her' nym.
Who cares. She is acting like a guy anyway. Nothing indicates that the writer of such bull#@($ is an intelligent form of life anyway.

"John James" <not@all.co.uk> wrote Funny, being the Kobe miasma is about RAPE. Don't let it become a habit, it's sloppy.
Let me guess - you're a Meerkan.
Sure it does- it's not an uncommon scenario for athletes to rape, nor celebrities for that matter. They always try the nuts&sluts routine; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. No; Kobe's already made up with her.
Can I play you at poker?
So you don't think she was raped? Perhaps you'd like to join the discussion about why you believe that?
I said the thread wasn't about rape. What part of that leads you to conclude that I don't think 'she' was raped?
Who cares what some net-nanny Mrs. Grundy wannabe netcop thinks?
I have no idea. Nobody in talk.rape however wants this thread cross-posted here. That begs the question why you and others want to do it, as it's easy to simply remove us from the NG line. I'd have thought it was common courtesy. YMMV. Or maybe you're just an ignorant bastard?
Who cares?
I give up. As I said, you're either an ignorant bastard or you're not. It's a lifestyle choice.
I don't cross-post, and I don't trim headers. Simple politeness. Chas
Only if you're thick. Most people respond to polite requests if it doesn't involve undue inconvenience. I'm sensing a pattern with you however. John James (JJ)

Ask nicely and someone will tell you how to skip articles and threads you aren't interested in. You say that one of these newsgroups has lots of people who agree with you, and even though that doesn't appear to be the case, maybe they'll pipe up and try to help. This is a polite request, and if you respond with a polite refusal like that other guy's reply to yours, I'll understand. I think he's now trying to piss you off, since you made the mistake of showing how easy that is. Meanwhile, it appears that no one is really all that worried about your problem and that you've exacerbated it, so you might try a more efficacious approach, i.e., stow the #@&@ ing. You're acting like an old granny. By the way, I was wondering about something. You keep telling him what "most people," etc. think. Do you have some secret way of knowing that, or what?
