Satire and infringing on copyright law

I often see satires done on certain subjects or about a specific
corporation or, say, a song parody and I've always wondered how the
law deals with infringement with copyright or other laws that are
"proprietary".
For example, let's say I wanted to satirize something the United
States Postal Service was doing: could I use the actual phrase and/or
logo of the United States Postal Service within that parody or satire
without being sued for copyright infringement?
