Bryant case not a victory for rape victims

BILOXI - The dismissal of the criminal rape charge against basketball
superstar Kobe Bryant may dissuade sexual assault victims from notifying
authorities, a victims' advocate said.
Peggy Cuevas, a sexual assault counselor for the Gulf Coast Women's Center
for Nonviolence, says she's heard many excuses from victims.
"They're afraid they'll be ridiculed for being drunk or for going out with
the wrong man. They're afraid people won't believe them," Cuevas said.
Every state except Arizona has a rape shield law intended to limit testimony
about an accuser's sexual history. The deviation in the Bryant case has
drawn criticism nationwide about potentially disastrous effects on future
sexual assault cases.
"Most women will think twice before going to authorities," Cuevas said.
Making her name public didn't help the case, said Biloxi Police Sgt. Bobby
Darden.
"We don't identify sexual assault victims for privacy reasons," said Darden.
"You know it's going to come out during the trial, but you try the best you
can to keep it from being made available to the general public."
District Attorney Cono Caranna said he doesn't believe the Bryant case will
be detrimental to prosecutions in South Mississippi.
"It was a most unusual case and should have little or no effect on how we
handle cases here," Caranna said. "I can't recall ever having a rape victim
who came in with civil lawyers as well."
Most sexual assaults are never reported, Cuevas said.
"More often than not, the victims seek medical attention and our emergency
response team is called in," she said.

Thats the fallout for the true victims of rape by the whore who cried
wolf. The real criminals are Faber who filed false accusations and
the DA for filing for prosecution without all the evidence.
Faber wanted fame for seducing Kobe and money from the settlement.
Hubbert wanted fame for prosecuting a famous celebrity.
The truth came out and bit them both in the ass.

The whole idea of everybody having counsel is quick coming of age in our
adversarial system.
The State has defined that the interests of the accuser are not it's
interests. The defense certainly isn't looking out for her interests-
somebody's got to.
And look how badly she was treated even *with* representation-

Um, this is exactly what women need to learn from.
Stop getting drunk out of your minds.
Stop picking the wrong men for the wrong reasons.
The rapes will stop.
This is the problem with #@&@
es and their "rights". They don't seem to
comprehend that EVERY right has implicit responsibilities. It's never been
any different. But they seem to think they can abuse their "rights" and
ignore responsibility, and then absolve themselves of the blame for whatever
bad happens.
What a @$#*ing joke. It's time for women to grow the @$#* up.

Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets":
WOMAN: "How do you relate to women so well?"
JACK: "I think of a man...and then I take away reason...and accountability."
