On Patrick Atkinson, rumors, defense of human rights, and justice

For a number of years, James and Roberta McLaughlin, and persons
associated with them, have been spreading defamatory and false
statements about The GOD'S CHILD Project and its founder Patrick
Atkinson.
The McLaughlins publish a substantial number of these defamatory and
false statements on the internet.
The God's Child Project and Patrick Atkinson have filed a lawsuit in
the federal district court in North Dakota to shut down this hate
site, enjoin the McLaughlins from furthering their campaign of
disinformation, hatred and defamation, and to seek damages caused by
their actions.
The McLaughlins were suspended in 1998 by Patrick Atkinson from their
volunteer positions in Guatemala Central America, for their
mishandling of financial documents and their refusal to abide by the
Project's rules.
Prior to fleeing Guatemala, James and Roberta McLaughlin and two of
their friends, including a former administrator for Covenant House's
Casa Alianza program who has now been convicted of criminal charges of
Making False Accusations and Denouncements, filed nearly five dozen
false accusations against Patrick Atkinson and the GOD'S CHILD
Project with several Guatemalan governmental entities. James and
Roberta McLaughlin are currently wanted by judicial authorities in
Guatemala on various criminal charges. Atkinson had formerly been an
FBI witness against financial and other wrongdoing in the Covenant
House program.
The false claims made by the McLaughlins and persons associated with
them have been thoroughly investigated by Guatemalan authorities, the
North Dakota Attorney General, the Diocese of Bismarck, and by The
God's Child Project's board of directors. In each instance, the
investigations have proven the allegations to be completely false and
unfounded.
