"As soon as we got outside she grabbed my arm and was visibly shaken and
started to cry," Pietrack told Eagle County sheriff's investigators during
an interview the day after the woman's encounter with Bryant. "She started
crying and saying that Mr. Bryant choked her ... She said she was getting
choked and sexual intercourse."
In part of a 354-page package of documents released Friday by the sheriff's
office, Pietrack told investigators the young woman relayed her story
"through tears."
Pietrack followed her as they each drove themselves home, he said.
"When I got to her house I rolled down my window and asked her again if she
was all right," Pietrack told detectives.
The basic facts she told both so-called "outcry witnesses" were the same.
After she showed Bryant to his suite at the Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, he
asked the young woman to return to his room so they could take a tour
"without the guys," meaning his bodyguards, Pietrack told investigators.
Bryant told detectives the same thing during his interview.
The young woman told Herr that after giving Bryant a tour, they went back to
the room, Herr said. Then, "he started to kiss her and she got stopped as
first, and then he started choking her, and bent her over and raped her,"
Herr said.
"And he raped her, is that what she said?" the detective asked Herr.
"That's what she said," Herr answered.
Pietrack said he called the young woman again after they got home to ask if
she was going to tell her parents, and said she replied she was not. He
called her the next morning to again urge her to call the authorities and
tell her parents, he said.
Herr said the young woman was upset and didn't think she would be believed
if she told anyone about the incident in Bryant's room.
"I asked her what happened and then she told me what happened. I tried to
get her to call the police, or wake, at least wake her parents," he said.
"She was just really upset and she didn't think I was gonna believe her."
"(She said) she just wanted to forget about it and that nobody would believe
her," he added. "At first, I mean it seemed far-fetched, but I don't
understand why she'd have any reason to lie about it."
