"The main thing we're concerned about is not as much as (her name being used in) the court documents, as we're hoping this doesn't open the door for the mainstream media outlets to print her name," said Cynthia Stone, spokeswoman for the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault. "Most people out there do not know her name. You actually have to look for it, and most people aren't going to actively look for her name." The woman's attorneys said the ruling was not a surprise and that she had been prepared for it. They also said they had no intention of dropping the suit, which seeks unspecified damages. "Kobe Bryant has not ever been convicted of anything," Duke Law School professor Erwin Chemerinsky said. "He is at this moment innocent in the eyes of the law and yet he has been besmirched by being accused of rape." Kevin Higgins of the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program said nationally, only 16 percent of alleged assault victims come forward to authorities. He said using the accuser's name in the civil case could discourage other accusers from even seeking help.

I guess she just wants to remain anonymous, while she sues a well know athlete for money. For all we know, she's just afraid that seeing her name or picture in the paper will jog the memory of other guys she falsely accused. Alex

This has got to be the most ridiculous goddamned thing I've ever heard of, in the last week, anyway. Don't these stupid twats have, say, actual sexual assaults that have occurred in Colorado recently to worry about? I have to think there have been a #@($load of them since this whole farce started. --Robert -- *** My Head Is Filled with Yeast http://www.livejournal.com/users/spimby/

I'm in favor of newspapers printing her name, people who threaten and/or stalk her going to jail, and of her bringing civil actions against anyone who defames her.

Alan Dershowitz has made that point many times in the past about these rape shield laws.

So far the only defamation of character lawsuit regarding this case is AGAINST HER, by Laie. I am laughing my ass off at that.

So far all we know is that Ms. Weatherwax has put out a press release woofing that she's *going to* file a lawsuit, on unspecified grounds, and begging anyone out there to inteview her about it. I'm laughing my ass off at *that.* http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=37747

You cannot defame a skank. Defaming implies that she has a good name.
