Allawi Closes Borders as Fallujah Assault Begins (Update4)
Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Iraq's interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi closed Baghdad's
international airport and the country's borders with Syria and Jordan, and
declared a curfew in rebel- held Fallujah as U.S. and Iraqi forces began a
ground assault.
Allawi said he gave his authority for Iraqi forces to spearhead an attack on
Fallujah along with U.S. troops, and announced six measures to tackle the
insurgents. U.S. Staff Sergeant Lee Watts, speaking by telephone from Baghdad,
said 36 insurgents have been captured, four of them foreign fighters.
The Iraqi interim administration and the U.S. military have pledged to bring
Fallujah and other rebel areas under government control ahead of elections
planned for January. Allawi yesterday declared a 60-day state of emergency
across most of Iraq.
``We are determined to clear Fallujah of terrorists,'' Allawi said at a
televised news conference in Baghdad. ``Today I have reached the conviction that
the terrorists and armed groups don't want a peaceful settlement.''
Baghdad's airport will be shut down for 48 hours, and the borders with Syria and
Jordan will be closed to all vehicles except those carrying food and other
necessities, Allawi said, speaking in English and in comments translated from
Arabic.
He said the curfews, which began at 6 p.m. local time in Fallujah and also
nearby Ramadi, both mainly Sunni Muslim cities west of Baghdad, have been
imposed to ``spare the residents of Fallujah -- the decent people.''
`Lightning' Attack
About 200,000 residents have already fled the city of 300,000 people, Allawi
said. He also declared a ban on weapons in Fallujah, a shutdown of non-essential
services, and the closure of highways leading to the city for all but emergency
vehicles and those authorized by the government.
U.S. and Iraqi forces late yesterday took control of a peninsula southwest of
the city center, seizing Fallujah's general hospital, and two bridges across the
Euphrates River, the U.S. military said.
``Fallujah itself is encircled with checkpoints and with troops,'' said U.S.
Marine spokesman Major Francis Piccoli in a satellite phone interview from
outside Fallujah. ``I'm convinced that if we enter the city proper, it's going
to be fast, it's going to be lightning, we will overwhelm the insurgents.''
Piccoli said the aerial bombardment of ``pre-planned'' targets was still going
on. ``Those targets have been bombed continuously; every hour of the day we've
had at least one target engaged. We won't stop anytime soon,'' he said.
Gas Masks
A U.S. helicopter was shot down in Fallujah, al-Jazeera reported. No other
details were available.
U.S. Marines, who have moved into ``battle positions,'' have been issued gas
masks on concerns that insurgents may use nerve gas against them, Cable News
Network said, citing its reporters embedded with U.S. forces.
The hospital was seized by Iraqi forces, with support from U.S. Marines, at
about 10:45 p.m. local time yesterday, Major Kris Meyle said in a telephone
interview from Baghdad. ``There were no shots fired and no casualties,'' she
said.
Allawi said that four ``foreign terrorists'' were captured at the hospital,
including two Moroccans, and two other people of unidentified nationalities who
speak a ``non-Iraqi'' dialect. He also said insurgents have booby-trapped
hospitals, schools and mosques in Fallujah.
Casualty Rates
Coalition forces will probably meet opposition from about 3,000 insurgents in
Fallujah, the U.S. military's Meyle said.
Historic casualty rates for urban combat have been about 30 percent since World
War II, said retired Colonel Randy Gangle of the Marine Corps Center for
Emerging Threats and Opportunities in Quantico, Virginia.
Gangle said he expects that number to be far lower in Fallujah, judging from the
April assault in which 52 U.S. Marines were killed out of about 3,200 that
joined the fight -- a casualty rate of about 2 percent.
``We've learned a lot since Somalia,'' Gangle said, referring to the 1993 United
Nations peacekeeping mission that went awry, leaving 18 U.S. soldiers dead after
a firefight with gunmen in urban Mogadishu.
``In city fighting it's not light infantry alone that does the work, it's tanks,
explosives engineers and infantry combined,'' Gangle said.
Twelve people in Fallujah were killed today during U.S. airstrikes on the city,
Agence France-Presse reported, citing an unidentified official at a medical
clinic.
Piccoli of the Marines said that two Marines were killed in action during the
taking of the peninsula. He gave no further details. The Associated Press
reported two Marines drowned early today when their bulldozer flipped over into
the river.

compulsive disorder. His life revolves around Ken and Ken's dealings with the
Colorado Bar. How long has it been since Ken first tried to gain admittance
with the Colorado Bar? People not directly involved in the case would have let
go the matter and continued on with their lives. Ted's posts indicate an
inability to do so.
His tendency towards stalking is also evident in his driving clear across
Melbourne, Australia, to take a picture of an advisory's primary residence and
place it on a web site. This fits into the intimidation aspect of the
stalker's mind set perfectly. Had Ted been able to stay longer, he may well
have found many more opportunities to just "happen to be in the neighborhood."
Yes, Ted does want, or at least did want, people to think he's Australian. He
once boasted about how natives thought he was native. No native is going to
confuse an Australian accent with an American one. Indeed, no tourist is going
to confuse the two either. He had to impersonate a native accent to pull off
this ruse. The fact that natives were fooled indicates the degree to which Ted
studied the accent. The sole reason to do this would be to make one's self seem
native.
Ted most certainly has issues that he would do well to have address with the
aid of a competent mental health professional.
Ted, if you'd like, I could look up some psychologists in your area that could
help you discover and deal with the underlying cause of your problems.

practicing professional. Ted's persistence in this matter goes WAAAAAAY
beyond what is normal, and his tendency toward stalking suggests that he
might pose a threat. His brother-in-law's incarceration for the alleged
murder of his illegitimate four-year-old daughter appears on its face to
have put Ted under considerable stress, which could make him dangerous.

Iyad Allawi the terrorist
Iyad Allawi, now the designated prime minister of Iraq, ran an exile
organization intent on deposing Saddam Hussein that sent agents into Baghdad in
the early 1990's to plant bombs and sabotage government facilities under the
direction of the C.I.A., several former intelligence officials explained.
Dr. Allawi's group, the Iraqi National Accord, used car bombs and other
explosive devices smuggled into Baghdad from northern Iraq, the officials said.
The Iraqi government at the time claimed that the bombs, including one it said
exploded in a movie theater, resulted in many civilian casualties.
One former Central Intelligence Agency officer who was based in the region,

Other former intelligence officials said Dr. Allawi's organization was the only

The bombing and sabotage campaign, the former senior intelligence official said,

Terrorist Allawi reactivates his gang
In a videotape sent to the al-Arabiya television station (published, Tuesday 06
July), members of a group calling itself the "Salvation Movement" threatened to
kill Jordanian fugitive Abu Musab al-Zarqawi if he did not leave Iraq
immediately.
They where upset on how al-Zarqawi could target U.S. installed government
officials.
The five men, their faces covered with Arab headscarves, were flanked by
rocket-propelled grenades, pistols, rifles and an Iraqi flag.
Speaking with a clear Iraqi accent, one of the men said, "He (al-Zarqawi) must
leave Iraq immediately, and his followers and everyone who gives shelter to him
and his criminal actions."
The man continued, saying, "We swear to Allah that we have started preparing
....to capture him and his allies (any resistance to the occupation) or kill them
and present them as a gift to our people (the Americans)....This is the last
warning. If you don't stop, we will do to you what the coalition (occupation)
forces have failed to do."
After seeing fellow U.S. puppets assassinated Iyad Allawi designated prime
minister of Iraq by the Anglo Axis has decided to call his terrorist gang back
into arms. The aim is clear, "kill before being killed".
His terrorist gang advertises in their video that they are going to kill Iraqi's
that they suspect of being allies of al-Zarqawi. This clearly shows they will
target Iraqi's fighting the brutal occupation. Also this group's sympathy for
the U.S. installed corrupt Iraqi officials and in their own words, they want to
do the job the occupation forces have failed. This makes clear on whose payroll

Allawi shot prisoners in cold blood

Iyad Allawi, the new Prime Minister of Iraq, pulled a pistol and executed as
many as six suspected insurgents at a Baghdad police station, just days before
Washington handed control of the country to his interim government, according to
two people who allege they witnessed the killings.
They say the prisoners - handcuffed and blindfolded - were lined up against a
wall in a courtyard adjacent to the maximum-security cell block in which they
were held at the Al-Amariyah security centre, in the city's south-western
suburbs.
They say Dr Allawi told onlookers the victims had each killed as many as 50
Iraqis and they "deserved worse than death".
The Prime Minister's office has denied the entirety of the witness accounts in a
written statement to the Herald, saying Dr Allawi had never visited the centre
and he did not carry a gun.
But the informants told the Herald that Dr Allawi shot each young man in the
head as about a dozen Iraqi policemen and four Americans from the Prime
Minister's personal security team watched in stunned silence
Iraq's Interior Minister, Falah al-Naqib, is said to have looked on and
congratulated him when the job was done. Mr al-Naqib's office has issued a
verbal denial.
The names of three of the alleged victims have been obtained by the Herald.
One of the witnesses claimed that before killing the prisoners Dr Allawi had
told those around him that he wanted to send a clear message to the police on
how to deal with insurgents.
"The prisoners were against the wall and we were standing in the courtyard when
the Interior Minister said that he would like to kill them all on the spot.
Allawi said that they deserved worse than death - but then he pulled the pistol
from his belt and started shooting them."
Re-enacting the killings, one witness stood three to four metres in front of a
wall and swung his outstretched arm in an even arc, left to right, jerking his
wrist to mimic the recoil as each bullet was fired. Then he raised a hand to his
brow, saying: "He was very close. Each was shot in the head."
"The prisoners were against the wall and we were standing in the courtyard when
the Interior Minister said that he would like to kill them all on the spot.
Allawi said that they deserved worse than death - but then he pulled the pistol
from his belt and started shooting them."
The witnesses said seven prisoners had been brought out to the courtyard, but
the last man in the line was only wounded - in the neck, said one witness; in
the chest, said the other.
Given Dr Allawi's role as the leader of the US experiment in planting a model
democracy in the Middle East, allegations of a return to the cold-blooded
tactics of his predecessor are likely to stir a simmering debate on how well
Washington knows its man in Baghdad, and precisely what he envisages for the new
Iraq.
There is much debate and rumour in Baghdad about the Prime Minister's capacity
for brutality, but this is the first time eyewitness accounts have been
obtained.
A former CIA officer, Vincent Cannisatraro, recently told The New Yorker: "If
you're asking me if Allawi has blood on his hands from his days in London, the
answer is yes, he does. He was a paid Mukhabarat [intelligence] agent for the
Iraqis, and he was involved in dirty stuff."
In Baghdad, varying accounts of the shootings are interpreted by observers as
useful to a little-known politician who, after 33 years in exile, needs to prove
his leadership credentials as a "strongman" in a war-ravaged country that has no
experience of democracy.
Dr Allawi's statement dismissed the allegations as rumours instigated by enemies
of his interim government.
But in a sharp reminder of the Iraqi hunger for security above all else, the
witnesses did not perceive themselves as whistle-blowers. In interviews with the
Herald they were enthusiastic about such killings, with one of them arguing:
"These criminals were terrorists. They are the ones who plant the bombs."

It's not OCD, you are confusing "obsession" with OCD. You refer to a

defer to the expert's opinion on this one.
So why didn't you defer to the experts when the Examiners' Board of the
Colorado Bar Association asked you to submit to a pscyhological examination?

stalker's mind set perfectly. Had Ted been able to stay longer, he may well
have found many more opportunities to just "happen to be in the neighborhood."
Yes, Ted does want, or at least did want, people to think he's Australian. He
once boasted about how natives thought he was native. No native is going to
confuse an Australian accent with an American one. Indeed, no tourist is going
to confuse the two either. He had to impersonate a native accent to pull off
this ruse. The fact that natives were fooled indicates the degree to which Ted
studied the accent. The sole reason to do this would be to make one's self seem
native.
Ted most certainly has issues that he would do well to have address with the
aid of a competent mental health professional.
Ted, if you'd like, I could look up some psychologists in your area that could
help you discover and deal with the underlying cause of your problems.

Kent and Lindsay, I do appreciate the input, coming as it does from a
practicing professional. Ted's persistence in this matter goes WAAAAAAY
beyond what is normal, and his tendency toward stalking suggests that he
might pose a threat. His brother-in-law's incarceration for the alleged
murder of his illegitimate four-year-old daughter appears on its face to
have put Ted under considerable stress, which could make him dangerous.

the Palos Verdes cliffs while the pair was hiking three years ago was indicted
with her murder and pleaded not guilty today, the District Attorney's office
announced.
Deputy District Attorney Craig W. Hum of the Torrance office said a criminal
Grand Jury indicted Cameron John Brown, (dob 9-21-1961), in case No. BA255206
with one count of murder with the special circumstances of financial gain and
lying in wait.
The District Attorney's office will announce at a later date on whether it will
seek the death penalty against Brown. He is being held without bail.
Lauren Key died on Nov. 8, 2000, after she and her father hiked to Inspiration
Point in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. It is one of the highest points on the
Palos Verdes cliffs and drops 120 feet to the ocean below.
Brown claimed the girl slipped, authorities said. Sheriff's homicide detectives
conducted a lengthy investigation. Hum said there was no relationship with the
child until she was about 3, when her mother filed a claim for child support and
paternity was established. Authorities said Brown was the biological father.
Hum said that after being ordered to pay child support, the defendant was
granted visitation with the little girl.
Brown was arrested last November after Hum filed charges in Torrance. The
indictment, returned July 20th and unsealed today by Los Angeles Superior Court
Judge David Wesley, eliminates the need for a preliminary hearing and the
earlier case in Torrance will be dismissed Tuesday.

Kaldis doesn't have OCPD either.
Those people are not dangerous, they are just extremely tense, uptight,
annoying, anal-retentive, pleasure-hating workaholic jerks. Offices are
full of them, and they typically rise to managerial level. They make
lists, can't make up their minds, have a my way or the highway attitude,
are misers, hate vacations, blame other people, take no responsibility,
are hyper-moral and often highly religious, put off making decisions
because they can't make up their minds, freak out under stress, place
tremendous emphasis on manners and proper behavior, have shallow
emotions and no spontaneity, intellectualize their feelings, are no fun,
rearrange things so they are in perfect order, are neat freaks, are
sometimes germ-obsessed, can't see the big picture and have no insight.
They are basically prigs. They try to make the world perfect. They are
often men, their kids hate them, their wives tend to leave them, and
they are often successful. They see the world as full of lazy people,
slobs, people with no manners or morals, or incompetent idiots. They
