Tsk, "dipslime" has started pulling names and Subject
lines from other newsgroups for his sporgery of
news.admin.net-abuse.email.
How about a message ID and an evaluation of the IP's posted from?
(The content is some sliced up crypto-mark-of-the-beast-kook
text file.) BS, "Faxhor" and Chatbot are well represented
but they dribble to so many newsgroups that it's hard to tell
if ARS has harvested for this. Luckily filtering tech has
improved since the ARS sporgeries, and it isn't hard to
/dev/null them all.
Thanks Android Cat.

Close... I have a working test script that seems to work fairly well to
identify and output the message-ids of the sporgery posts.
However, I am reluctant to publicize it, as it requires a fair amount of
babysitting... And is a heck of a lot slower than it really needs to be.

I wish I would understand what you guys are posting about. But
Hipcrime and Dipslime sounds really bad, really really bad. It sounds
maximum security prison bad. It sounds so bad that Homeland Security
and Interpol should move in on that. It sounds so bad that I should be
made Secretary of Homeland Security. :)

"HipCrime" is/was a nutjob who cranked out software to automate Usenet
abuse. Anyone who uses that software, at least when they do so to try
to disrupt NANAE, is called "HipCrime" or "DipSlime" or any other
variation.
The individuals who are doing this are doubtless bored kids or the type
of wannabe spammer who believes NANAE is the only reason s/he isn't
making millions and able to move out of the trailer park. Nobody in any
government is going to "move in on" these cretins, as they simply aren't
worth the effort. It's pathetically easy to block these "limper than
Ton Loc when he found out Sheila was a man" "attacks"... :-)

Thanks for the info. Nevertheless, courts and law enforcement should
help the victims of such abuse.
Look at this: there are people posting in Usenet who invest their time
to inform others about his or her views of what he or she considers
important. That is similar to when a reporter writes stories or
authors write books. Their works and names, including pen-names, are
being protected by the law. And that should also apply to postings in
Usenet.
It doesn't matter who easy it is to forge somebody, but what matters
is that those who are doing it are criminals and they try to destroy
the work of the author, his reputation, and confuse the readers.
Usenet is harmed by such activities as readers don't know anymore what
information to trust when Usenet is allowed to stay completely
lawless. Many posters will think it is just a waste of time to post,
as everything is destroyed by those who steal their posting idenitites
and they will stop posting.
