FL Help! Landlord tenting building for termites ...

12/12/2004 9:06:25 PM

Landlord is having rental complex tented for termites the week between Christmas and New Years. Has issued no offical notice. Telling tenents that they will have to vacate for up to 5 days. Landlord will not pay for hotels or to put pets into kennels. And will not refund any rent. Is all of this legal?

Not likely.
I would suggest you get an attorney and obtain a court injunction
immediately.
Write something about the issue and have each of the tenants read it and
sign it.
You need to do it PDQ!

It's legal if the lease allows it. If the lease doesn't say anything
about the landlord's right to do this, then they don't have the right.
But I'd bet a blueberry bagel that the lease covers this. On a minor
point, if the landlord is: "Telling tenants that they will have to
vacate for up to 5 days", why is that not "notice"?
