My UAC preferences are :

ANU ( I have a decent chance )
I live on the north shore of Sydney and Macquarie is only 10 minutes away.
So I have put Mac ahead of ANU and I am fairly likely to get my 3rd
preference
However, I keep hearing that ANU is better than Mac Uni for civil law.
I even heard this from a relative who was on the economics faculty at ANU
for 5 years and then moved to the Mac faculty for the next 15 years.
His words were " ANU is far better than Mac. Go to ANU. Don't consider
Macquarie "
What is your opinion ?
Does Macquarie really have a far worse repution than ANU for Law ?
I am worried that when I graduate, I will be disadvantaged compared to
those who have gone to ANU.
Certainly the Macquarie campus and library are lousy ( I go down there
fairly regularly to use their library ) with USYD, UNSW and ANU far being
better.
Should I put ANU ahead of Macquarie ?
Or should I keep my current choices and go to Macquarie ?
I am not keen on Canberra but can put up with staying in a college there
and commuting on weekends back to Sydney if going to ANU is really going to
benefit me educationally and in my future career.
I don't know which school is better for law studies, but winter weather is
certainly better in Sydney than it is in Canberra. Though if your relative
is correct, make sure you have a good overcoat.
