OK, let me clarify some things that I guess I didn't in my previous

what I meant is that he signed the purchase agreement, but did not sign
at closing because he backed out at that

Thanks Roger and McGyver. As I understand the term statute of
limitations correctly, I know that the collection agency can't sue me
now since the statue of limitations has expired. In California, the
written contract is 4 years. What I'm going to do

have different rules as applies to comp. Some allow for what you're
describing, it's called 'permanency'. Some states do not allow for
