Gun madness? He's a cop. A gun is one of his tools. Fill in the blank: When someone starts shooting up a college or a mall, you call the cops because they carry {BLANK}.

Parking tickets? Why is it that most cops in Great Britain do not carry guns and yet the level of gun violence is significantly lower?

What if the cop kept his bowling ball on a shelf in the closet, the kid opens the door and gets creamed by the ball. Gun. Bowling ball. The cop is negligent either way. It's not the guns fault.

That's changing, more and more Bobbies want to be armed. Also, the level of violence has been on the rise ever since the Brits decided to start enacting gun-control 100 years ago. But it's even more pronounced since they enacted their complete handgun ban And we'll not even bother with the other part of the equation that there exist MAJOR societal differences between the US and the UK, that have FAR MORE impact on societal levels of violence than the presence of guns (Unless naturally, you're one of those idiots that believe that guns emit evil rays that make people more violent. A belief that does NOT hold up in the light of the evidence that shows that crime goes DOWN when gun ownership and concealed-carry goes up)

right, or he could have left the keys in the car or the pool unnattended. Of course we don't have anyone clamoring for car and pool laws.

So you are saying that Britain is different because levels of violence have increased in the last 100 years. That certainly hasn't happened in the US.

Yes, one of those differences is that in the US almost ANYONE can own a gun.

You mean in places like Texas and Florida?

Too true. I mean, there are no laws that say that you have to have a fence of a certain height around your pool or that children under 16 can't drive. Oh, wait...!

Yeah, I knew I was leaving that idea hanging out there. But, nobody is trying to outlaw pools and cars because the "cause deaths".

In my area people ARE trying to outlaw pools, particularly in-ground pools (my brother-in-law just got one and got a lot of grief from people in the community who are trying to outlaw them). And maybe people aren't trying to outlaw cars (though I wouldn't be surprised if there are some that are) but they are trying to curtail their use and who can use them. I am certainly not for outlawing guns (I own several, myself), but I do think that a few laws restricting their ownership could be helpful. I think that it should be harder to get a carry permit; if you want a carry permit you should have to pass some kind of test. In my state to get a carry permit all you have to do is apply and not have a criminal record (a SERIOUS criminal record, anyway).

Don't you have rules requiring fences around pools?

Yes (as I stated above). But that doesn't mean people aren't trying to outlaw them, anyway. And insurance rates for people with pools may make it moot.

Make what "moot" you stammering jackass ? Or are you suggesting that ALL gun owners be required by law to carry Liability Insurance coverage for any harm done by their precious pistols ?

What the hell are you talking about you stupid retarded @$#*? I was talking about pools and how it is getting more expensive to own them, @$#*ing idiot.
