No, this is an unmoderated USENET group. In any event, he does not seem to be an evil man, but unfortunately he is a bit confused about a few things, which has led to some unwise actions. Some have reacted to him as though he were evil, which is itself mistaken. John Savard

All of the postings 5 postings listed above, for which I was suspended for one year, were all posted simultaneously here too. You can search and find them easily. None of them were in any way objectionable. They pointed out things like the fact that the USCF is losing $300,000 so far this year. They made what was intended to be helpful suggestions to change that. Unfortunately, Bill Hall, who controls the moderators, will not brook any implied criticism. These moderators were all notoriously anti-Sam Sloan at the time they were appointed and indeed that is the reason why they were appointed. Sam Sloan

Talk about self-serving, please note that she says that Channing agrees with her, but it was Channing who did the things she complains about. It was Channing's idea to play $50,000 to upgrade the website and he had us hire an Internet guru to tell us how to do that. It was also Channing's idea that we pay $15,000 for "Internet Insurance". It was also Channing's idea to spend $10,000 to fly all the USCF insiders to Florida for a "retreat". In short, most of the wasteful expenditures that Susan complains about were done by Channing who is now her ally. Also, recall that after making a brief presentation at the Finance Committee Workshop in Cherry Hill, Channing said, "If you have any questions, I will be in the bar." He is still in the bar and he has never answered any of our questions. Sam Sloan samsloan wrote:samsloan Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:53 am #89659 Randy Bauer has long had a reputation for being lazy. Frankly, I consider the issues raised by the moving defendants to be frivolous. There are a great abundance of federal questions here. I think the defendants are just trying to buy time and to convince their clients that they are doing the best they can. 3. The United States Chess Federation ("USCF") has 86,000 members. Every state of the 50 states have members, with the least being Wyoming with more than 50 members. The USCF represents the United States of America internationally. We are the equivalent to the United States Olympic Committee, except that instead of representing the USA in hundreds of sports, we only represent the USA in one activity, chess. 4. It is obvious that if the United States Olympic Committee or any other comparable organization such as the National Football League or the National Basketball Association had experienced the massive election fraud, identity theft, online forgery, impersonations, misappropriations of funds and so on as have characterized the USCF in the past two years, the FBI would have moved in already and started making arrests. There would be people in jail now. This has not happened because there is not that much interest in chess. 5. There have been three forensic reports produced thus far. There are the Mottershead Report, the Jones Report and the Ulevitch Report. These three reports all reach the same conclusion. The Mottershead Report has proved absolutely, conclusively that Hoainhan "Paul" Truong sent 2464 fake or forged Internet postings over a two year period from June 25, 2005 until October, 2007. That is two thousand four hundred sixty four postings, most of which impersonated me, Sam Sloan, although some of them impersonated Ray Gordon, Andrew Zito and other real or fake personalities. 6. It is sad that the USCF must run up legal bills to defend a suit which will no doubt be tossed out the first time a judge looks at the content. If you are saying that my remarks about Bill Hall are untrue or inaccurate, then you are just blind as to what has been going on in Crossville. The USCF has lost $500,000 since Bill Hall has been Executive Director and is losing $300,000 so far this year. (Hall was hired just a few weeks before Channing came on the board.) Besides, the USCF Issues Forum has rules. The Rules are that one is not allowed to call a person a liar (even though they are) nor is one allowed to accuse somebody of "unethical conduct". I did neither. I merely stated that Bill Hall is incompetent, lazy, unqualified, inexperienced and often out "sick". All of this is true and none of this calls him a liar. Thus, my posting did not violate any rules and thus I should not be sanctioned, suspended or banned for writing and posting it. Sam Sloan
